10 Moments That Make Parents Say I Love It! - Classy Career Girl
10 Moments That Make Parents Say I Love It! âI must have done something right.â Every parent dreams of the day when these words get to be spoken. It is the absolute fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Parents have tough moments, however. When kids run around the house breaking everything that gets in the way and throwing tantrums over the silliest things, it is easy to just lose it. Modern parenting certainly has unique challenges. In a fast-paced world, kids are becoming increasingly impatient. The wired generation makes it hard to get up from the couch to throw and catch an actual ball. Some argue that kids today feel irrationally entitled. But throughout the day, there are those moments that you wouldnât trade for the world. It could be difficult looking for a needle in a haystack, especially if the whining and hyperactivity practically sum up your entire day. But, in between the bouts of craziness are proud parent moments that are more than enough to convince you that you indeed have the best job in the world. 10 Little Moments That Make Parents Say I Love It! 1. Giggles and Snuggles Children have the most contagious laughs. When you hear them giggle, all is suddenly well. How can a parent be grumpy when they hear their child laugh? A dose of giggles surely is a parentâs best medicine. And then comes the snuggles. When youâre in bed or on the couch and they suddenly squeeze their tiny bodies to be next to you, you just wish that the world stops for a while. These are the moments you donât want to end. 2. Little Mommy Helpers At a time when most kids would bury their faces on a screen, getting them to help with the chores is a big deal. When you are raising kids in a condo without a helper, you would need to teach kids to put their toys in the box, help sort clothes by color, and water plants in the balcony. Kids like being busy and it is always a good time to teach them to make good use of their time. 3. Awww, Sibling Love Welcoming a new bundle of joy is tricky for most parents. How do you tell your toddler that he is going to be a big brother soon? How do you tell him that now he has to share toys, share attention, and share some of the responsibility in the process? But one day, you see your child humming a tune to put his baby brother to sleep. One day, you see your toddler teaching the baby to do things with hands or making faces just to see the baby smile. Those moments makes you want to shed a happy tear, right? 4. When Kids Say âPleaseâ Children today are exposed to all sorts of media. And you know that TV is not necessarily the best teacher. This is another modern parenting challenge that parents face. How do you raise kids with good manners? So when they ask for a ânapkin, pleaseâ or âpass the bowl, pleaseâ you give yourself a silent tap on the shoulder. As your heart is skipping a beat, they say âthank you.â No questions, day made. 5. Letâs Play, Mom Modern parents are mostly busy. And they are always tired. So when their kids ask them to play with them, it is common for them to beg off. But, one of the modern parenting lessons every young parent has to realize is that kids donât stay kids forever. They grow up so fast and you wonder where have all the years gone by. The beauty of raising your kids in a condo community is that you can play with kids outdoors in a controlled environment. Thereâs an expansive play field and a playground for all those play dates. You may also play with them indoors and help them dress a Barbie or form a Lego truck. Be honored that kids still want to hang out with you because sooner or later, you are no longer as cool as they thought you were. [RELATED: 15 Well Paid Work From Home Jobs For Moms] 6. Little Milestones The first time they tied their shoe laces, went to the bathroom alone, and put on their socks donât you feel like you are the best parent ever? How did you get them to do that? These are proud parent moments that feel as good as landing that multi-million account at work. 7. Studded With Stars âMom, I got three stars.â Toddlers who have started schooling are very thrilled about getting those stars. And donât deny it, you too are. Knowing that he is doing well in school and enjoying it is such a relief. And when your toddler flashes the stamped stars in his hands, you just know that he is going to be a great success one day. Heck, he could be president! 8. Thatâs My Baby! At some point in a childâs life, he or she will make everyone swoon over flashes of brilliance. Your child may be included in the honor roll, sing on stage, lead a dance number, do a piano recital, or win a spelling bee contest. One of the eternally useful tips when raising kids is that you be the most supportive mother or father through all this. When all other parents start congratulating you, you just know that you produced the modern worldâs Einstein. 9. Being Kind to Others This takes a whole new level of parenting magic. When you learn that your kid shares his lunch with a classmate who has no money to buy food, when your child volunteers to take part in a tree-planting activity, when he draws a funny picture to make someone happy, or when he saves his allowance to donate to unfortunate children you just know that you did something right. 10. âI Love Youâ When your kid says: âI love you, momâ or âI love you, dad,â you feel like you have just won the lottery. It is the best feeling in the world. A child showing appreciation of the things you do for them gives parents the absolute joy. Parenting is a tough act. When someone puts their life in your hands, you know canât mess up. But at some point, you will. And itâs going to be okay. Just look back at the little things that made you feel like a giant. Look back at those precious moments that make everything worth your every while.

Tim Duncan Retired NBA Great Was Perfect Leader, Coworker
Tim Duncan Retired NBA Great Was Perfect Leader, Coworker In the NBA, as in offices across the world, there are prima donnas, there are underachievers, and there are superstars mostly seeking personal glory. And then there is the rare breed of team-focused talent who toils unselfishly and does whatever is necessary to lead the organization to success over the long haul. Tim Duncan, who played 19 phenomenally solid years for the San Antonio Spurs, owns five NBA titles and two league MVP awards, and quietly announced his retirement on Monday, was the epitome of the latter. Here are some of the ways that Duncan was the kind of worker that bosses dream of, that colleagues yearn to have as part of their teamâ"and that every employee should aspire to be like. Consistency. In the many glowing tributes that have been written freshly in praise of Duncan, this is the word that pops up most often. GQ called Duncan âthe bedrock of the most consistently competitive team in basketball.â Sports Illustrated referred to the 15-time All-Starâs statistics on the court as âcomically consistent,â with 13 straight years averaging double-digit rebounding and scoring, before only the slightest falloff in his later years. Jason Gay of the Wall Street Journal noted that âit is easy to get caught up in the momentary dazzle, and ignore the genius of consistencyâ that was Duncanâs career. The point is: Itâs one thing to do great work for a brief spell; itâs quite another to bring a tireless work ethic and genius to the table year in, year out. Quite obviously, organizations place higher value on employees who dependably do high-quality work over the course of decades, rather than some brilliant flash in the pan. Unselfishness. In a statement released on Monday, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said of Duncan, âHis understated selflessness made him the ultimate teammate.â Earlier this year, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich explained what his team looked for in players: âYou can talk to somebody for four or five minutes, and you can tell if itâs about them, or if they understand that theyâre just a piece of the puzzle. So we look for that.â Read Next: Guess Who Is to Blame for Fewer Fans Watching Sports on TV Duncan, while undeniably a world-class talent, always seemed to understand that he was just a cog in the wheel. The NBA is full of huge egos, yet he and his teammates were renowned for a humble, team-first approach. Anyone who is selfish, thin-skinned, and humorless just wouldnât cut it, as Popovich said: âA sense of humor is a huge thing with us. Youâve got to be able to laugh. Youâve got to be able to take a dig, give a dig â" that sort of thing. And [you have to] feel comfortable in your own skin that you donât have all the answers.â Versatility. While Duncan is generally considered a power forwardâ"in fact, heâs the consensus best power forward everâ"the player had tons more to his game. As Sports Illustrated put it, the 7-foot Duncan was both a power forward and a center, and he was equally valuable on the offensive and defensive sides of the court. He guarded screens and blocked shots on one end and then set screens, made smart passes, and nonchalantly hit shots off the backboard on the other. Duncan was also versatile in the sense that he worked so well with so many different players, in whatever role best suited the teamâs needs at the time. As Duncan got older, he never seemed threatened by younger, more athletic teammates. Instead, Duncan was more than willing to allow younger players like Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard to step in as leaders, especially on the offensive end. âDuncan helped San Antonio reach the playoffs in each of his 19 seasons and became the only player in league history to start and win a title in three different decades,â NBA.com pointed out. All Fundamentals, No Flash. They call Duncan âThe Big Fundamentalâ because unlike so many other players who try to get on the highlight reels with tomahawk dunks and stylish crossover dribbles, the Spurs leader had a much simpler goal. He wanted to stop the other team from scoring points, and to help his team to score lots of points. âHe played basketball the way your coaches always told you to play basketball: relentlessly, unselfishly, at both ends of the court,â Gay wrote in the WSJ. Read Next: 5 Live Streaming Sports Services Every Cord Cutter Must Know About Flash may get you some extra points with jersey-buying fans, SportsCenter, and sponsorships, but it certainly doesnât get your team extra points in actual games. This is something Duncan, who dunked only when it was the most sensible option and blocked shots in the least flashy, most strategic way possible, seemed to understand better than any other NBA player in recent memory. In the big picture, what kind of worker does a boss and company want most: one who is focused on exciting yet immaterial fluff, or on the results that really matter? Loyalty. Loyalty isnât held in particularly high regard anymore, no matter if weâre talking professional sports (hello Dwyane Wade) or corporate America (weâre a nation of job hoppers). Yet everyone can understand that loyalty makes perfect sense when both employer and employee value and trust each other, and everyone has the same goals. This was the situation with Duncan, Popovich, and the Spurs for nearly 20 years, and itâs what made it possible for Duncan to become the only player to hit the 1,000-win mark with one team. Leadershipâ"by Example. With the exception of when Duncan is called for a foulâ"he famously seems to think heâs never committed oneâ"the Spursâ veteran is known for his quiet, unassuming demeanor on and off the court. Duncan is also known as pretty much a nerd who played DD, goes to Renaissance fairs, and has no fashion sense. And yet this extremely uncool dude has been one of the greatest leaders in professional sports, as indicated by all of the details and accomplishments mentioned above. Read Next: 4 Hobbies That Could Help Get You a Job Through it all, Duncan has led by example, not mere words, nor by charisma or force of personality. Teammates have been amazed that Duncan considered himself just one of the guys, not a superstar. Itâs essential to have talent, but itâs what you do with that talent that matters most. Duncan always worked hard, always tried to get better, and always focused on team (rather than personal) accomplishments. He was simply the kind of coworker that you want on your team and that you want to be your leader.
